Brandy Clark will release ‘The Bird’ on January 15, 2027, and support the Shooter Jennings-produced album with the Take Flight World Tour.
Brandy Clark is opening her next album era with The Bird, an 11-track record scheduled for January 15, 2027, through Reprise Records. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter also released “American Roots” as the project’s first preview and announced an extensive Take Flight World Tour.
Shooter Jennings produced the album at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles with Clark’s road band: Gabe Burdulia, Amanda McCoy and Erin Nelson. The track list includes guest appearances from Rosanne Cash on “Old Woman” and SistaStrings on “Astronaut.”
‘American Roots’ introduces the record
Clark wrote “American Roots” with Michael Pollack and Griff Clawson. The song draws inspiration from Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land” and focuses on shared experience, community and belonging. It offers an early window into an album that moves through love, loss, isolation and the search for connection.
Other titles on The Bird include “The Loner And The Lonely,” “Tower,” “Goodnight Los Angeles,” “Stranger On A Plane” and the title track. Clark has said she hopes listeners recognize parts of themselves in the songs and feel the energy the musicians found while making the record.
The Take Flight tour begins in Los Angeles
Clark will bring the new material to the stage shortly after the album arrives. The 2027 leg of the Take Flight World Tour is set to begin January 22 at The Bellwether in Los Angeles. Announced stops include Seattle, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Charleston before the current itinerary closes May 2 in New Braunfels, Texas.
The Bird follows Clark’s self-titled 2023 album, produced by Brandi Carlile. That record included “Dear Insecurity,” Clark’s collaboration with Carlile that won Best Americana Performance at the Grammy Awards and later earned Song of the Year at the Americana Honors & Awards.
The new campaign keeps Clark’s songwriting at the center while widening the frame with a full band, prominent collaborators and a tour that stretches across the first months of 2027. “American Roots” is available now, giving listeners their first finished piece of the album before its January release.
