Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas has logged a 23rd week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, passing Mariah Carey for the longest reign in chart history.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has moved from a tie into the Billboard Hot 100 record book. The country crossover has now spent 23 weeks at No. 1, the longest run at the top by any single in the chart’s history.

The new mark puts the song one week ahead of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which had accumulated 22 weeks at No. 1 through its repeated holiday returns. Langley reached that total last week before taking sole possession of the record on Tuesday.

A country hit keeps expanding its audience

“Choosin’ Texas” first reached the Hot 100 summit in February after being released last October. The bittersweet song follows a woman who suspects her partner’s heart belongs to someone else, turning a distinctly country setup into a hook that crossed into mainstream pop listening.

Its latest chart week showed the balance behind that staying power. The track drew 21.8 million official streams, while its radio audience rose to 58.3 million impressions. It also remained No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs and Digital Songs charts and climbed to No. 2 on Radio Songs.

Langley celebrated the milestone in a social-media video, thanking listeners and acknowledging how dramatically the song has changed the lives of its writers, her family and her team. The 27-year-old singer described the achievement as difficult to process and said she planned to take time to enjoy it.

From a writing retreat to chart history

The song was written with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor during a 2024 retreat. Langley later selected it as the lead single from her second album, Dandelion, after previewing it onstage in February 2025.

The single’s success has lifted the wider project as well. Dandelion returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last week before moving to No. 2, while another Langley song, “Be Her,” sits inside the Hot 100’s top 10.

The record may continue to move because “Choosin’ Texas” remains at the summit. Carey’s holiday perennial is also likely to return later in the year, making the final distance between the two songs an open question. For now, however, Langley stands alone with the longest No. 1 run the Hot 100 has recorded.
