Harry Styles’ official ‘As It Was’ video has crossed one billion YouTube views, becoming the singer’s second clip to reach the milestone.
Harry Styles has added another billion-view music video to his catalog. The official video for “As It Was,” the lead single from his 2022 album Harry’s House, has crossed one billion views on YouTube, giving the singer his second entry in the platform’s billion-views club.
A second billion-view video
The milestone follows “Sign of the Times,” Styles’ 2017 debut solo single, which was the first of his videos to reach the same mark. “As It Was” was directed by Tanu Muino and released in March 2022, immediately becoming one of the defining visuals of the Harry’s House era.
The video places Styles in a bright red outfit on a rotating platform, using constant motion to match the song’s restless rhythm and themes of change. Its streamlined concept helped make the clip instantly recognizable across YouTube and social media, while the song developed into the biggest chart hit of his solo career.
The song’s impact extends beyond YouTube
“As It Was” spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also led an album that won album of the year at the 2023 Grammy Awards, reinforcing Styles’ move from former boy-band member to one of pop’s most commercially powerful solo artists.
The clip was nominated for video of the year at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. Although it did not win that category, its long-term view count now gives the video another durable measure of audience reach more than four years after its release.
The timing also keeps Styles in the spotlight during a busy touring period. He is currently performing a lengthy Madison Square Garden residency as part of the campaign for his fourth album and has announced additional stadium dates extending into 2027. The billion-view mark connects that current chapter with the single that became the signature hit of his previous album cycle.
