Monsieur Periné will take an indefinite hiatus after a final eight-show run, closing a chapter that began in Bogotá nearly 20 years ago.

Monsieur Periné is stepping away after nearly two decades together. The Colombian group announced an indefinite hiatus on Tuesday, saying its members need individual space and do not know how long the separation will last. The message leaves open the possibility of a future reunion, but it clearly marks the end of the band’s current chapter.

The band will finish its remaining concerts

Before the pause begins, Monsieur Periné plans to complete eight scheduled performances across the United States and Latin America. The final run starts in New Orleans on Sept. 29 and is expected to conclude in Puerto Rico on Nov. 29, with stops also listed in Florida, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela. A Live Nation listing confirms the New Orleans date at Tipitina’s as part of the Instrucciones Para Ser Feliz tour.

In its farewell message, the band said the decision had taken a long time to make and describe to listeners. The members framed the hiatus as a difficult but necessary period apart, thanking the audience that followed their work from its earliest days. A statement from Guerrera PR & Marketing also characterized the remaining concerts as a chance for the group and its fans to close this phase together.

A distinctive Latin alternative catalog

Led by vocalist Catalina García and multi-instrumentalist Santiago Prieto, Monsieur Periné formed in Bogotá in 2007. The band built a sound that blended pop, jazz, swing, rock and Latin rhythms, earning an international audience with songs including “Nuestra Canción” and “Bailar Contigo.”

The group released its debut album, Hecho a Mano, in 2012. Caja de Música followed in 2015, the year Monsieur Periné won the Latin Grammy for best new artist. Its 2023 album Bolero Apocalíptico later won best alternative music album, while Instrucciones Para Ser Feliz arrived in April 2026 and received a Latin Grammy nomination for best contemporary pop album.

The announcement does not identify solo projects or set a reunion timetable. For now, the remaining tour dates will serve as the band’s public goodbye before García, Prieto and their collaborators begin an open-ended break.
