Tyra Banks says ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ cut the memorable death scene she expected, leaving her with a playful grudge 25 years later.

Tyra Banks is looking back on Halloween: Resurrection with a sense of humor—and a very clear grievance. Nearly 25 years after the 2002 slasher reached theaters, the model and television host says the movie failed to deliver the career boost or memorable on-screen exit she had been promised.

Banks played Nora Winston, a production assistant working on the film’s in-story livestream from Michael Myers’ childhood home. The eighth Halloween installment also featured Jamie Lee Curtis, Busta Rhymes, Sean Patrick Thomas and Bianca Kajlich. Although Nora is killed, the moment happens largely off camera in the finished cut.

Why Banks accepted the role

In a new interview, Banks recalled that she initially questioned whether appearing in another horror sequel would help her transition from modeling into acting. According to her account, an agent pointed to Josh Hartnett’s role in 1998’s Halloween H20 as evidence that the franchise could open bigger doors.

That comparison persuaded her to take the part, but Banks said the result was far from what she expected. She had anticipated a striking death scene that audiences would remember. Instead, much of the sequence was removed, leaving the character’s fate to be conveyed without the showcase she thought she had filmed.

Banks now describes the experience as unfinished business with “Halloween 8.” Her comments are playful, but they also offer a candid glimpse at how performers can sign onto studio projects based on scenes, positioning and career promises that may look very different after editing.

A small role in a much larger career

The disappointment did not stop Banks from building a major television résumé. She went on to lead America’s Next Top Model, host The Tyra Banks Show and appear on programs including Dancing With the Stars. Her film work also included Life-Size and Coyote Ugly.

That wider success makes her return to the horror sequel feel less like a complaint about a derailed career than a sharp behind-the-scenes story. For fans revisiting the movie during Halloween season, it also changes the way Nora’s abrupt exit plays: the scene that survived was not the one Banks expected audiences to see.
