Glastonbury 2027 general admission tickets sold out in 42 minutes as demand overwhelmed the festival’s revised online queue system.
Glastonbury Festival’s 2027 general admission tickets sold out in 42 minutes on Sunday morning, confirming that a fallow year has done little to cool demand for the Worthy Farm event.
The online sale opened at 9 a.m. British Summer Time on October 4. By 9:42 a.m., the available allocation was gone and buyers still waiting in the virtual queue were told the sale had ended. The result followed an equally rapid coach-package sale, which sold out in under half an hour earlier in the week.
A new queue faced its first major test
This year’s process required fans to enter their registration details before joining the queue. Each registration was tied to one place in line, a change designed to prevent the same person from multiplying their chances across several devices.
Instead of a numbered position, the queue displayed a row of blocks that gradually changed color as buyers moved forward. NME reported that some fans celebrated completing purchases within minutes, while others complained that the indicator barely moved or that they encountered access restrictions.
The festival said demand greatly exceeded supply and apologized to people who missed out. Fans who secured places paid a £100 deposit. The full general admission price is £408, including a £5 booking fee, with the remaining balance due in April 2027.
The lineup remains under wraps
Glastonbury is scheduled to return from June 23 through June 27, 2027, after taking 2026 off as a fallow year. No performers have been officially announced, even though organizer Emily Eavis has said the three Pyramid Stage headliners are booked.
That absence of a lineup makes the sellout especially striking: buyers committed to the festival itself rather than a confirmed list of artists. Speculation may continue for months, but rumors are not announcements, and the names circulating online remain unverified until organizers reveal the bill.
There is still one route left for unsuccessful fans. Cancelled or returned tickets, along with tickets whose balances are not completed, are expected to be offered in a spring 2027 resale.
For now, the 42-minute sellout gives Glastonbury a familiar opening chapter: overwhelming demand, a tense digital queue and far more would-be attendees than available places at Worthy Farm.
