Niamh Algar and Fanny Ardant lead Harmonia, a six-part AI thriller now filming in Athens for a planned 2027 international launch.

Niamh Algar and Fanny Ardant will lead Harmonia, a six-part psychological thriller set inside a luxury wellness resort controlled by artificial intelligence. Production has begun in Athens, placing the series firmly on track for a planned 2027 launch.

The UK-Greek co-production pairs a polished escape with a deliberately unsettling premise. Guests arrive at a facility where technology can satisfy almost any desire, but the system’s increasing attention to the people around it turns that promise into a question about control.

A creator confronts her own invention

Algar plays Shona Casey, the scientist who created the resort’s AI. Ardant portrays the property’s former owner, while Chloe Lea appears as a young staff member who becomes the technology’s obsession. The story is being framed as a modern Frankenstein tale in which it becomes difficult to decide whether the machine or its human makers pose the greater danger.

The ensemble also includes Oliver Chris, Abubakar Salim, Goran Bogdan, Theo Augier and George Ioannides. Greek performers Pygmalion Dadakaridis, Maria Kallimani, Alexandros Logothetis and Katerina Misichroni round out the cast, underlining the production’s international structure.

Lefteris Charitos is directing all six episodes. The series was created by Peter Carlton, Charitos, Amanda Livanou and lead writer Hanna Jameson, with additional episodes written by Alki Papastathopoulos and Panayotis Christopoulos.

Filming brings British and Greek partners together

The shoot is using locations in Athens, including the Cape Sounio resort, alongside Kapa2 Studios. Warp Films is producing with ITV Studios and Greek public broadcaster ERT, while ITV Studios is also handling international distribution.

That partnership gives Harmonia a scale beyond a standard domestic drama. The predominantly English-language series is designed for an international audience, but its Greek locations and production partners are central to the project rather than serving only as scenery.

The subject arrives as television writers increasingly use AI to explore power, intimacy and dependence instead of treating the technology as a simple futuristic gadget. Harmonia puts those anxieties inside a resort built to remove discomfort, making the promise of effortless perfection the source of the suspense.

No exact premiere date or broadcaster has been announced. For now, the confirmed production start, six-episode order and 2027 target provide the clearest outline of when audiences can expect the resort to open its doors.
