Christian Nodal’s 2018 hit ‘No Te Contaron Mal’ has reached one billion YouTube views, becoming his second video to cross the mark.
Christian Nodal has added another billion-view video to his catalog. The official clip for “No Te Contaron Mal,” his 2018 regional Mexican hit, now displays one billion views on YouTube, making it the singer’s second music video to reach the platform milestone.
The achievement gives one of Nodal’s early signature songs a new digital chapter eight years after its release. It also places the video alongside “Adiós Amor,” which previously carried him into YouTube’s Billion Views Club in 2020.
An early collaboration became a lasting hit
“No Te Contaron Mal” was written with producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera and later appeared on Nodal’s 2019 album Ahora. Barrera has described the track as the first song he wrote with Nodal and the beginning of their friendship.
The pair developed it after Barrera traveled to meet the singer in Mexico in 2018. Their collaboration produced a song built around romantic misunderstanding and competing versions of a breakup, themes that helped it travel well beyond its initial radio run.
Directed by Omar Torres and Victor Zambrano, the official video kept that story close to the performance instead of relying on an elaborate concept. Its longevity is visible in the current view counter, which has continued climbing years after the song’s original promotional cycle ended.
The song also delivered major chart and award results
The YouTube milestone is not the track’s first measure of sustained success. Billboard reports that “No Te Contaron Mal” spent 38 weeks at No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. The song also earned a Latin Grammy and was named regional Mexican song of the year at the BMI Latin Awards.
Those achievements show how the track worked across different parts of the music business: radio rotation, industry recognition and long-term online viewing. The billion-view mark is especially notable because it reflects years of audience activity rather than a brief opening-week surge.
Nodal has continued releasing music since Ahora. His 2026 studio album Bandera Blanca arrived in May, supported by the Pa’l Cora Tour 2026. Yet an eight-year-old recording remains one of the strongest gateways into his catalog.
With two official videos now beyond one billion views, Nodal’s digital footprint matches his position as one of regional Mexican music’s most visible crossover stars. “No Te Contaron Mal” has moved from a major hit to a durable catalog centerpiece, one replay at a time.
