Loretta Lynn’s Grammy-winning Van Lear Rose returns November 13 with remastered audio, new vinyl editions and a rare bonus track.

Loretta Lynn’s celebrated 2004 album Van Lear Rose is returning to streaming after years of digital absence. Third Man Records will release a remastered edition on November 13, restoring one of the country legend’s most adventurous records to major digital services while also issuing new physical editions.

The reissue was remastered from the original analog tapes and will be available on CD, standard black vinyl and limited-edition vinyl. It also adds “Just to Have You Back,” a rarity that had previously appeared only through Third Man’s Vault subscription series. “Miss Being Mrs.” has been made available ahead of the full release.

A late-career reinvention with Jack White

Jack White produced Van Lear Rose and played on the album, pairing Lynn’s sharp storytelling with a rawer rock-influenced sound. The project arrived after a long gap between her solo studio albums and introduced her writing to a younger audience without sanding away the directness that made her a country institution.

The collaboration became both a critical and commercial landmark. The album reached No. 2 on the country albums chart and No. 24 on the Billboard 200. It won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album, while Lynn and White’s “Portland Oregon” earned Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.

The reissue restores a missing chapter

The album disappeared from streaming services several years ago, and the reason for its removal was not publicly clarified. Its comeback therefore carries more weight than a routine anniversary pressing: it restores legal digital access to a record widely regarded as a high point in Lynn’s later career.

Patsy Russell, Lynn’s daughter, said the family was honored to work with White and Third Man again, adding that her mother’s spirit lives through the music. Lynn died in 2022, making the reissue part of the continuing stewardship of her catalog rather than a new studio campaign.

With the remaster, bonus rarity and physical editions arriving together, Van Lear Rose is being positioned for both longtime collectors and listeners who may know Lynn mainly through her classic recordings. Its November return gives a landmark cross-generational collaboration another chance to find an audience on the platforms where music discovery now happens.
