Antonia Hylton lands her first solo MS NOW show

Antonia Hylton is moving into her first solo anchor role at MS NOW with The Assignment With Antonia Hylton, a new weekend program scheduled to premiere September 12.

The New York-based show will air Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Its format will mix interviews and panel conversations with field reporting, while covering major political and cultural stories. Joy Fowlin will serve as executive producer.

A larger place in the weekend lineup

The launch gives Hylton a substantial individual platform after a wider overhaul of MS NOW’s weekend schedule. She previously co-hosted the evening edition of The Weekend, which the network canceled as it shifted later weekend hours toward taped programs and video podcasts.

The Assignment will lead into Jacob Soboroff’s Los Angeles-based program Connect. Together, the shows create a six-hour afternoon block built around two journalists who moved to MS NOW as the network separated its news operation from NBC News.

Hylton joined MS NOW in April 2025. During the summer, she also anchored the network’s weekday 11 a.m. hour before Peter Alexander’s State of Play took over that time slot in August. Her recent work has included field reports on immigration enforcement and its effects on communities across the United States.

Reporting experience behind the new role

Before joining the network, Hylton worked as an NBC News correspondent. Her assignments included the 2024 presidential campaign, Hurricane Helene and demonstrations on college campuses.

She has also built a notable body of audio journalism. Her work on the podcast Southlake earned a Peabody Award and made her a Pulitzer Prize finalist for audio reporting. She later received an Edward R. Murrow Award for Grapevine, another podcast project.

The appointment arrives during a period of broad programming changes at MS NOW, with several weekday and weekend hours receiving new hosts, formats or names. For Hylton, however, the shift is especially significant: rather than sharing a roundtable, she will now carry a three-hour show under her own name twice each weekend.
