Maren Morris says she and Miranda Lambert accidentally swapped black heels after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s New York wedding.
Maren Morris left Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding with an unexpected souvenir: Miranda Lambert’s shoes. Morris shared the mix-up while appearing on Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly, turning a small after-party mystery into a charming country-music story.
How the heels got switched
According to Morris, she and Lambert both removed their black heels during the celebration. When it was time to leave, Morris found a pair and put them on rather than walking out barefoot. It took several days for the singers to work out that each had gone home with the other woman’s footwear.
The detail that finally solved the mystery was the size. Lambert’s stylist discovered that Lambert had a pair of size 6 shoes that were not hers. Morris then realized where her own heels had gone and contacted Lambert. The two eventually recovered the correct pairs.
Morris described the accidental exchange as a “Cinderella moment,” but her practical takeaway was simpler: taking off formal shoes at a wedding can make the trip home unexpectedly complicated. The story was first told as part of a broader conversation about the 10th anniversary of Morris’s debut album, Hero.
A Nashville crowd in New York
The July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden brought a large group of country artists to New York. Morris said the guest list included Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini and members of Little Big Town. She also crossed paths with Eric Church and Kane Brown during the evening.
Before reaching the venue, Morris and other guests started their own singalong, with Swift’s “Love Story” among the selections. That detail, like the misplaced heels, offered a candid glimpse of the celebration away from the formal photographs and carefully arranged public moments.
The footwear mishap ended without drama or damage. Both singers got their own heels back, while Morris came away with a story that linked two Texas-born country stars to one of the year’s most closely watched celebrity weddings.
