Sean Ono Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl have welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Aurelius, sharing the news with family photos.
Sean Ono Lennon and his longtime partner, musician and model Charlotte Kemp Muhl, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Aurelius. The couple announced the news on social media Tuesday evening, sharing their first family photos and offering a rare glimpse into a relationship they have largely kept away from daily celebrity coverage.
A new chapter for the musical couple
Lennon introduced the baby with a characteristically playful message, telling followers that he and Kemp Muhl had created a “Human Bean.” Kemp Muhl also posted images from the family’s first days together and wrote candidly about the surreal rhythm of new parenthood, from sleepless nights to learning how to care for a newborn.
The announcement drew a warm response from Julian Lennon, Sean’s older half-brother, who reacted publicly to the family news. Sean answered by calling him “Uncle Jules,” turning the exchange into a small but meaningful Lennon family moment for fans who have followed both brothers’ lives and music.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s first grandchild
Aurelius is the first grandchild of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Sean, 50, is their only child and was born on his father’s birthday in 1975. The arrival has an especially resonant place in the family’s musical history: John wrote “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” for Sean, and the song remains one of his best-known reflections on fatherhood.
Sean and Kemp Muhl met at Coachella in 2005 and began dating two years later. Their partnership has also been creative. They formed the psychedelic group the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger and have collaborated on other recordings and performances while maintaining an unusually private personal life.
In recent years, Sean has spoken about helping preserve the artistic legacies of both parents while continuing his own work as a musician and producer. The birth of Aurelius now adds a new generation to that family story, but the couple’s announcement kept the focus where they clearly wanted it: on the excitement, humor and disorienting joy of becoming parents for the first time.
