Zendaya recreated Halle Berry’s vintage Lanvin outfit from the 2000 X-Men premiere for a meticulously styled Halloween tribute.
Zendaya turned Halloween into a precise piece of fashion history by recreating the Lanvin outfit Halle Berry wore to the New York premiere of X-Men in 2000. The look paired a yellow-and-brown geometric bikini top with matching low-rise pants, bringing an instantly recognizable Y2K red-carpet moment back into the spotlight.
Her longtime stylist Law Roach shared the images on Instagram on October 31 and identified the ensemble as Lanvin’s Fall 2000 design. He also thanked members of the fashion house’s team, indicating that the vintage set had been loaned for the tribute rather than newly reproduced.
A costume built on exact details
The transformation went beyond the clothes. Zendaya wore her hair in a short pixie style that echoed Berry’s appearance at the original premiere. Roach presented the new photographs beside archival images, making the connection clear and turning the costume into a direct homage rather than a loosely inspired outfit.
The choice also continued a fashion conversation already surrounding the two actors. At the 2026 Emmy Awards, Zendaya appeared in a custom Prada gown and a short hairstyle that prompted comparisons with Berry’s early-2000s red-carpet era. Roach said at the time that Berry’s pixie had helped inspire the haircut.
Why the tribute landed
Celebrity Halloween looks often depend on a single recognizable prop or makeup cue. Zendaya and Roach instead treated the assignment like an archival styling project: the exact designer, the original silhouette and the matching hairstyle all carried the reference.
Berry has previously spoken warmly about Zendaya’s work and the younger star’s fashion homages. That existing mutual respect gave the costume another layer, turning a throwback into a public salute between two major screen and style figures. For fans, it was also a reminder that one memorable premiere outfit can remain culturally legible more than a quarter-century later.
