Alex Warren’s WILDCHILD debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and tops two US sales charts after earning 75,000 units in its first week.
Alex Warren has landed the highest-charting album of his career. His second full-length studio set, WILDCHILD, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 while opening at No. 1 on both Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums.
A personal best powered by sales
The album earned 75,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending September 3, according to Luminate figures reported by Billboard. Traditional album sales accounted for 55,000 of that total, giving Warren his strongest sales week to date. Streaming activity and track purchases supplied the remaining units.
The rollout offered listeners a wide range of physical and digital choices. Billboard counted 13 vinyl variants, including two signed editions, as well as five CD variants, three download editions and a cassette. Two of the CD editions were signed, while two digital editions included bonus tracks. That collector-focused strategy helped the project lead the pure-sales ranking.
WILDCHILD also entered Indie Store Album Sales at No. 9. Its chart performance improves on Warren’s previous full-length release, You’ll Be Alright, Kid, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and contained his Hot 100 chart-topper “Ordinary.”
Several singles set up the album
Three WILDCHILD songs reached the Hot 100 before the album’s debut. “Passenger” entered at No. 100 in June, “Fine Place To Die” reached No. 87 in May and the radio-promoted “Fever Dream” climbed to No. 21 in March.
The result gives Warren his second Billboard 200 top 10 and his first No. 1 on the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts. It also extends a period of growing chart visibility for the singer-songwriter: Official Charts’ current artist results document repeated UK chart coverage around “Ordinary” and later releases.
The debut shows two sides of Warren’s momentum. He can generate broad consumption strong enough for a No. 2 finish on the all-format Billboard 200, while his physical editions and direct fan demand can lead sales-specific lists. The next test will be how the album holds once its concentrated first-week sales campaign gives way to longer-term listening.
