Christian Bale helped open Together California, a 12-home foster care village in Palmdale designed to keep siblings in care together.

Christian Bale has helped open a foster care village in Palmdale, California, designed to keep siblings together when they enter the child welfare system. The actor attended the opening of Together California, a project he has supported for years alongside co-founders Dr. Eric Esrailian and Tim McCormick.

A village built around sibling bonds

The 11,000-square-foot community includes 12 furnished homes and will provide programs focused on stability, support and care, ABC7 reported. Organizers describe it as the first village of its kind in California, with a model that prioritizes placing brothers and sisters together rather than separating them among different foster homes.

At the opening, Bale framed the mission around restoring hope after disruption and loss. His remarks emphasized that the site is meant to offer children not only housing but also a stronger sense of family and future. McCormick, Together California’s executive director, described the village as a welcoming community for families navigating extraordinarily difficult circumstances.

Years of planning reach a milestone

Together California’s own project timeline shows that funding from the City of Palmdale and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was secured in 2022, along with a 4.67-acre parcel. The nonprofit moved through fundraising, design and construction before reaching its anticipated 2026 opening.

ABC7 said donations made the project possible, including nearly $9 million raised by the Austrian American Council West. Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger also supported bringing the development to the Antelope Valley, according to comments shared at the opening.

Variety reported that the village opened Friday and highlighted Bale’s long involvement in the effort. The completed site turns that advocacy into a physical community where foster families can receive practical support while children preserve one of their most important relationships.

The opening does not solve the broader pressures facing foster care, but it offers a concrete alternative to sibling separation. For Bale and the project’s partners, the next measure of success will be how the homes and services support the children and caregivers who begin using the village.
