Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas reaches 22 weeks at No. 1, tying Mariah Carey for the longest reign in Billboard Hot 100 history.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has reached a rare summit: 22 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The run ties Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest reign in the chart’s history, placing a contemporary country hit alongside one of pop music’s most durable seasonal songs.

Twenty-two weeks at the top

Billboard confirmed the tie on the Hot 100 dated September 19. Langley responded by sharing the chart on Instagram and writing “22 weeks,” accompanied by celebratory emojis. She also tagged collaborators JoyBeth Taylor, Miranda Lambert and Luke Dick, recognizing the writers who helped shape the song.

The milestone pushes “Choosin’ Texas” beyond two other long-running crossover hits. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” each spent 19 weeks at No. 1. Langley’s song now stands alone as the longest-leading non-holiday title in the chart’s history.

Rolling Stone noted that Carey accumulated her 22 weeks across multiple holiday seasons after the song first reached No. 1 in 2019. Because the Christmas standard typically returns to the upper chart during the final weeks of the year, the record could change again. Langley, however, has the first chance to move ahead if “Choosin’ Texas” remains on top for another week.

A chart moment larger than one single

The Hot 100 achievement arrives during a broader commercial peak for Langley. Her album Dandelion recently returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while “Choosin’ Texas” also led Billboard’s Songs of the Summer ranking for 2026. Together, those results show simultaneous strength for both the single and the full project.

Langley also enters the awards season with nine Country Music Association nominations, the most for any artist this year. Her nominations include entertainer of the year and multiple mentions for “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her.”

For now, the chart record is shared rather than broken. That qualification does not lessen the scale of the moment: a song released in the current country cycle has matched a benchmark built by a holiday classic over years of annual returns.
