Fontaines D.C. and Rosalía unite on ‘Where Is Gone?,’ the Irish band’s first-ever album track to feature a guest vocalist.

Fontaines D.C. have released “Where Is Gone?,” a dramatic new duet with Rosalía and the final preview of the Irish band’s forthcoming fifth album, Dopamine Chamber.

The collaboration is a first for the group: Rosalía is the first guest vocalist to appear on a Fontaines D.C. album track. Produced by James Ford, the song pairs frontman Grian Chatten’s low, weighty delivery with Rosalía’s brighter upper register over acoustic guitar, strings and percussion that steadily grows more intense.

A meeting of Irish and Spanish influences

Guitarist Carlos O’Connell said he had followed Rosalía since her debut album and admired the way she carries Spanish musical traditions into contemporary pop. He connected that approach to Fontaines D.C.’s own relationship with Irish identity, making the collaboration feel less like a feature added for attention and more like a meeting of artistic instincts.

The song focuses on a relationship nearing its end. Rather than turning the breakup into a loud confrontation, Chatten and Rosalía trade verses before joining in a restrained chorus, while the arrangement supplies the tension around them. The result expands the band’s sound without burying either singer’s distinct presence.

“Where Is Gone?” follows the previously released singles “Marianne” and “Tongue.” It arrived after copies appeared on white-label seven-inch records at album listening events, giving fans an early hint of the project’s most unexpected pairing.

‘Dopamine Chamber’ arrives this week

Dopamine Chamber is scheduled for release on October 16 through XL Recordings. The album was recorded with Ford in locations including London, the English countryside and Palermo, Italy. The band has described its subject matter as a reflection of the relentless modern feed, spanning artificial intelligence, celebrity culture, political violence, climate anxiety and the memes that surround those stories.

Fontaines D.C. will support the record with dates across Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. A North American headline run is set to begin in Boston in April 2027, while “Where Is Gone?” gives the album rollout a high-profile bridge between alternative rock and Rosalía’s adventurous pop world.
