Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson were eliminated from Dancing With the Stars after their salsa earned 22 points on Super Bowl Night.

Guillermo Rodriguez and professional partner Witney Carson have left Dancing With the Stars after the competition’s first Super Bowl Night. The pair finished at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard on Tuesday, October 13, and were eliminated at the end of the live show.

Rodriguez, best known as Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night sidekick, performed a salsa to Bad Bunny’s “Tití Me Preguntó.” Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli were joined by guest judge and ESPN broadcaster Joe Buck, giving the routine a combined score of 22 out of 40.

A warm farewell after five weeks

After the result, Rodriguez thanked viewers and said he had enjoyed his time in the ballroom. He reserved a special message for Carson, telling her he loved her for teaching him to dance. Carson, who is expecting her third child, praised her partner for making the season enjoyable and for looking after her throughout their run.

The elimination ended a fan-favorite partnership that leaned into Rodriguez’s humor while showing steady effort. The couple had repeatedly landed near the bottom of the scoreboard, but their personality and rapport helped them survive the earlier rounds.

Two couples share the top score

The football-themed episode featured songs associated with previous Super Bowl halftime performers. Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy earned 36 points for a paso doble set to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” while Paralympian Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach matched that total with a salsa to Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.” Those were the night’s highest scores.

Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess were also announced as being in danger, but they advanced. Other surviving contestants include Julia Stiles, Harry Shum Jr., Tatyana Ali, Amber Glenn and Maura Higgins.

Next week’s theme is Dedication Night, with the remaining celebrities expected to honor an important person or part of their lives. New episodes air Tuesdays on ABC and Disney+, with streaming availability on Hulu the following day.
