Heidi Klum transformed into a giant severed replica of her own left hand, complete with her wedding ring and a tribute to Tom Kaulitz.

Heidi Klum used her own left hand as the blueprint for a characteristically elaborate Halloween transformation. At her 25th annual Halloween party in New York on October 31, the model and television personality arrived encased in a giant, bloodied severed-hand costume built around her body.

The design was not simply an oversized prop. It reproduced details from Klum’s real hand, including a green-stone wedding ring, red nails and the finger tattoo that reads “Tom,” a tribute to her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz. The personal touches made the grotesque concept instantly recognizable as hers rather than a generic movie-monster effect.

Months of work for one entrance

Klum said the physical puzzle began with a basic question: how could her body fit inside the shape of a hand? The final solution placed her legs inside two of the fingers and her torso in the palm. She spent six hours getting ready on the day of the party, while the prosthetics team had worked for months to engineer and finish the look.

The annual event has become a showcase for practical effects, theatrical makeup and celebrity commitment. Klum’s costumes are designed to work as full performances, not just outfits, and the reveal has developed into a pop-culture ritual of its own. This year’s concept leaned into body horror while still making room for a visual joke: Klum was literally dressed as the hand that inspired the costume.

A tradition built on escalation

The hand followed last year’s Medusa transformation, which featured a snake-covered headpiece and a long tail. Kaulitz joined that theme as a stone soldier, while a reported team of 15 artists helped create Klum’s look. The comparison shows how her Halloween appearances increasingly depend on collaboration among sculptors, painters, makeup artists and costume builders.

For the 2026 edition, the familiar details of Klum’s ring and tattoo gave the technical spectacle an intimate center. After months of fabrication and hours in the makeup chair, one of the night’s biggest celebrity arrivals came down to an idea she could see every day at the end of her arm.
