Kelly Osbourne says grief after Ozzy’s death affected her appetite, self-perception and decision to wear a wig at the 2026 Grammys.

Kelly Osbourne has spoken candidly about the severe weight loss she experienced while grieving her father, Ozzy Osbourne. In a new interview, the 41-year-old television personality said she did not recognize how dramatically her appearance had changed because emotional pain had overwhelmed her sense of perspective.

Osbourne explained that people close to her tried to intervene, but she was unable to see what worried them. She described grief as affecting her appetite physically: nausea made eating difficult, while the usual feeling of hunger seemed to disappear beneath the pain.

Why she chose a wig for the Grammys

The change became especially visible around the 2026 Grammy Awards, where the Osbourne family attended a tribute to the late Black Sabbath frontman. Kelly said she wore a wig partly to soften the appearance of her cheekbones and avoid shifting attention away from the celebration of her father’s musical legacy.

Her stylists also worked to find clothing that would make her look healthier on camera. The effort reflects a difficult tension familiar to many public figures: a deeply private period of mourning was unfolding while she prepared to appear at one of the year’s most photographed events.

Ozzy Osbourne died at age 76 in July 2025. Kelly’s new comments focus less on the public ceremony surrounding his death than on the disorientation that followed it. Her account also pushes back against the idea that a visible change in someone’s body can be understood from photographs alone.

A wider project about grief and mental health

Osbourne now plans to turn part of that experience into a three-part television project about grief and mental health. She said the series would let her share parts of her story that the public does not yet know.

No release date, platform or production timetable has been announced in the reports reviewed. For now, the project remains an intention rather than a scheduled program. Still, her decision to discuss appetite loss, distorted self-perception and the pressure of a public appearance adds specificity to a conversation that celebrity coverage often reduces to before-and-after images.
