Peacock has renewed ‘The Traitors’ for three additional seasons, extending Alan Cumming’s Emmy-winning reality competition through Season 8.
Peacock has ordered three more seasons of The Traitors, extending the hit reality competition through Season 8. The unusually long renewal arrives after a major Emmy showing and gives the NBCUniversal streamer a multiyear runway for one of its strongest entertainment franchises.
A three-season vote of confidence
The U.S. edition has already aired four seasons, and Season 5 is scheduled to debut in 2027. The new commitment therefore covers Seasons 6, 7 and 8, keeping host Alan Cumming at the center of the castle-set contest well beyond the next installment.
Peacock and Nielsen data cited by Variety show Season 4 viewership rising 72 percent from Season 3, making it the show’s biggest season so far. Deadline described the series as Peacock’s second-largest title behind Love Island USA, underscoring why the platform is committing early rather than renewing one season at a time.
The announcement follows a seven-for-seven performance at the 2026 Emmys. The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program for a third consecutive year, while Cumming earned his third straight trophy for hosting a reality or reality competition program.
The franchise keeps expanding
The format divides contestants into Faithfuls and secretly selected Traitors. Players complete missions to build a prize fund while the Traitors eliminate competitors and try to survive roundtable banishments. The U.S. version, produced by Studio Lambert, adapts the Dutch format De Verraders.
NBCUniversal is also broadening the brand beyond Peacock’s celebrity-led edition. The Traitors: New Blood, a civilian version for NBC, is scheduled to premiere September 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with streaming available on Peacock the following day.
Cumming remains both host and executive producer. The producing team also includes Stephen Lambert, Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess and Darrell Olsen.
No casts or premiere dates were announced for Seasons 6 through 8. For now, the concrete next chapter is Season 5 in 2027, followed by a renewal that guarantees the strategic game will continue for three additional rounds.
