‘Reacher’ Expands With the New ‘Neagley’ Spinoff

Prime Video is turning Reacher into a wider franchise this week. The first spinoff, Neagley, premieres on September 16, the same day the streamer releases the Reacher Season 4 finale.

The new series moves Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley from trusted supporting player to lead character. Sten has appeared as Neagley since the first season of Reacher, building a connection with viewers through the character’s history with Jack Reacher and the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit.

Eight episodes arrive at once

Unlike the weekly rollout used for Reacher, all eight episodes of Neagley are scheduled to become available on premiere day. Together with the Season 4 finale, that gives franchise fans nine new episodes to choose from on September 16.

The spinoff follows Neagley in Chicago, where she works as a private investigator. Her new case begins after she learns that a close friend from her past has died in what appears to be a suspicious accident. The setup preserves the investigative action that defines the parent series while giving Neagley a story that is not simply built around assisting Reacher.

A familiar bridge to a new lead

Alan Ritchson will appear as Jack Reacher in a supporting capacity, providing a direct link between the two shows. His presence helps establish the shared world, but the creative test for the spinoff will be whether it can make Neagley’s methods, relationships and personal history compelling on their own.

For Prime Video, the launch is a clear franchise move. Reacher has been structured around a solitary hero entering a new conflict, while Neagley creates room to explore another member of that world without replacing the original series. A fifth season of Reacher is also in production for a later release.

The same-day scheduling gives viewers a clean handoff: one chapter closes with the Season 4 finale, and another begins with a full spinoff season. It also puts Sten at the center of the franchise’s biggest expansion to date.
