Robert Pattinson says filming The Batman Part II feels like a marathon, with tougher action scenes and production stretching through year’s end.
Robert Pattinson is back under the cowl for The Batman: Part II, and the sequel is demanding more from him physically than the first film did. The actor described the production as a marathon, saying its action scenes feel significantly harder now that he is 40.
Filming began in London in June and is expected to keep Pattinson there through the end of the year. He told GQ that the extended shoot has been fun despite the strain, and he praised the sequel’s cast while expressing confidence in the film.
Gotham’s return comes with a larger ensemble
Pattinson is again playing Bruce Wayne for director Matt Reeves. The returning cast includes Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, whose story expanded between films in HBO’s The Penguin.
The sequel is also adding Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan in roles that remain closely guarded. Their involvement has fueled speculation about which corners of Gotham Reeves plans to explore, but the production has not confirmed character identities. That secrecy leaves Pattinson’s comments about a fun ensemble as one of the clearest signals about the movie’s scale.
A demanding year for Pattinson
The Batman sequel is only one part of an unusually crowded period for the actor. His 2026 schedule has included work connected to The Odyssey, The Drama and Primetime, as well as a new role as an ambassador for watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre. He told GQ that a vacation is firmly on his mind once the current run is complete.
His comments offer a grounded counterpoint to the polished spectacle expected from a superhero production. Elaborate fights and heavy costumes can look effortless after editing, but months of repeated choreography turn the work into an endurance test. For Pattinson, the challenge is no longer simply finding a new angle on Batman; it is sustaining the character’s physical intensity across a long shoot.
The Batman: Part II remains one of DC Studios’ most closely watched projects. Plot details are still under wraps, but production is active, the principal cast is in place and its lead actor is feeling every fight. Pattinson’s candid update makes the sequel sound ambitious, exhausting and, from his perspective, worth the effort.
