‘SNL UK’ Opens Season 2 With a Harry and Meghan Spoof

“Saturday Night Live UK” opened its second season by turning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle into the center of a royal-family cold open. The sketch imagined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arriving at Balmoral Castle for an awkward reunion with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Jack Shep played Harry, while Ayoade Bamgboye portrayed Meghan. Larry Dean appeared as Charles and Emma Sidi as Camilla, creating a fictional family encounter designed to pull recent royal headlines into the show’s fast-moving satire.

A fictional reunion at Balmoral

The scene began with Harry announcing his return to his father. Dean’s Charles answered with a joke about the couple’s Netflix money, prompting Shep’s Harry to complain about how quickly a large deal could disappear. The exchange established the sketch’s central idea: a homecoming driven not by royal duty, but by exaggerated financial panic.

Bamgboye’s Meghan then entered the conversation with jokes about cooking and her lifestyle image. The writers also used the meeting to revisit the couple’s long-running public tension with the royal household, but kept the material inside an obviously invented scenario. The performers were playing comic versions of public figures; Harry, Meghan, Charles and Camilla did not appear in the episode.

That distinction matters because coverage of the cold open arrived amid separate reporting about the Sussexes spending more time in Britain. The sketch borrowed that public conversation as a premise, then pushed it into absurdity. Its dialogue should not be read as a factual account of the couple’s finances, plans or private family discussions.

Season 2 starts with topical comedy

The cold open expanded beyond the family when George Fouracres entered as Andy Burnham. His arrival widened the scene from royal parody to a broader snapshot of British public life, following the familiar “SNL” formula of stacking recognizable figures into one opening segment.

For the UK edition, the choice signaled an immediate return to topical comedy. Rather than easing into the new season with a celebrity monologue or a self-contained character sketch, the show led with four royal impersonations and a premise viewers could recognize before the first line landed.

The result was less a statement about what Harry and Meghan will actually do next than a demonstration of how quickly their names can power a television sketch. “SNL UK” used their renewed presence in British conversation as raw material, while the cast transformed a hypothetical Balmoral visit into the season’s first large ensemble joke.
