The Gilded Age cast will release a 15-track Christmas album on November 6, spotlighting the HBO drama’s deep roster of Broadway performers.

The Broadway-heavy cast of HBO’s The Gilded Age is finally putting its musical credentials on record. Voices of The Gilded Age: The Christmas Album, a 15-track collection featuring members of the series’ ensemble, will arrive November 6 on digital platforms, CD and vinyl.

The release is timed for the holiday season and lands just five days after the drama’s fourth-season premiere on November 1. Producer and songwriter Desmond Child conceived and produced the project, which combines familiar seasonal music with two songs he wrote for the album.

Broadway voices move to the foreground

The participating lineup includes Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Kelli O’Hara, Laura Benanti, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Donna Murphy, Denée Benton, Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector and Adrienne Warren. Ben Ahlers, Jordan Donica, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Taylor Richardson and Taylor Trensch also appear.

Child’s new songs are “The World Needs Some Christmas” and “It’s Been Real.” Ahlers performs the former, which was released as the project’s first single, while Murphy takes the latter. The wider program includes standards such as “We Need a Little Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The album does not attempt to limit itself to music from the period depicted in the series. Instead, it uses the cast’s theater backgrounds as the organizing idea. McDonald, Murphy and O’Hara join forces on Stephen Sondheim’s “I Remember,” while Coon and Spector contribute a spoken performance of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” spread across the record.

A companion piece rather than a musical episode

Fans have often noted how many celebrated stage performers appear in The Gilded Age, even though the historical drama rarely gives them a reason to sing. The Christmas album offers a separate showcase without changing the show’s format or turning an episode into a musical.

That distinction makes the record both a seasonal release and a cast project. It connects the series’ television audience with the performers’ Broadway careers while giving the upcoming season an extra event around its launch.

With the first single already available, the rollout begins well before the full album. The close timing between the November 1 premiere and November 6 release also positions the project as a musical companion to the show’s return rather than a standalone celebrity holiday compilation.
