Apple TV Sets Jessica Chastain’s ‘The Savant’ for 2027

Jessica Chastain’s delayed thriller The Savant is moving back onto Apple TV’s release calendar. The streamer has set the limited series for spring 2027, giving the project a new window roughly a year and a half after it was pulled shortly before its planned debut.

An exact premiere date has not been announced. The series had originally been scheduled to launch on September 26, 2025, but Apple postponed it three days earlier. At the time, the company characterized the move as a delay rather than a cancellation and said it intended to release the show later.

A thriller about stopping violence before it happens

Chastain stars as Jodi Goodwin, a military veteran, wife and mother who works undercover by entering online hate groups. Her mission is to identify domestic extremists and disrupt planned attacks before they can be carried out. Chastain is also an executive producer through her Freckle Films company.

Melissa James Gibson created the series and serves as showrunner and executive producer. The drama was adapted from Andrea Stanley’s 2019 magazine article about an investigator working to prevent mass violence. Matthew Heineman directs and also serves as an executive producer.

The cast and the road back to release

The ensemble includes Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and Michael Patrick Thornton. Pablo Schreiber appears as a guest star, while James Badge Dale has a major recurring role.

When Apple delayed the series, Chastain publicly said she disagreed with the decision while expressing hope that audiences would eventually see the work. The project remained listed on Apple TV’s press materials, even as multiple possible release windows passed without a premiere.

The spring 2027 plan now provides the clearest path yet for the show. Because the precise date is still being finalized, viewers will need to wait for Apple’s next announcement for the full rollout schedule and episode details. For now, the new window turns a long-running question about the thriller’s future into a concrete return to the calendar.
