Netflix renews Shane Gillis comedy Tires for Season 4

Netflix has formally renewed Tires for a fourth season, extending Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben’s workplace comedy only weeks after Season 3 arrived. The decision follows the show’s best performance yet on Netflix’s global ranking for English-language television.

From a self-financed pilot to a fourth season

Tires centers on the dysfunctional employees of the Valley Forge auto-repair chain. Gerben plays Will, the anxious and underqualified heir trying to improve his father’s business, while Gillis plays Shane, his cousin and employee, whose constant interference makes that task harder.

The project began outside the traditional studio system. Gillis uploaded an early pilot to YouTube in 2019, and the creative team later financed and produced a six-episode first season independently in Pennsylvania. Netflix acquired that season for distribution in 2024 before funding the show’s subsequent installments.

Season 3 premiered August 13 and climbed to No. 5 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list during its first full week, the series’ highest position. Across its first three seasons, the comedy has accumulated more than 45 million views, according to figures reported with the renewal.

The creative partnership continues

Gillis, John McKeever and Gerben created the series. Its ensemble includes Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, Stavros Halkias and Thomas Haden Church, with a rotating group of guest performers around the Valley Forge shop.

The fourth-season order also fits a broader arrangement between Netflix, Gillis and McKeever. Their deal covers the development of additional shows and films, along with two new Gillis stand-up specials. The renewal therefore keeps the original series moving while the partnership expands into other formats.

Netflix has not announced a Season 4 premiere date or episode count. The greenlight nevertheless confirms that the low-budget comedy’s unusual route—from a creator-funded production to a globally distributed Netflix title—will continue for at least one more round.

That trajectory remains central to the show’s identity. Tires has grown without abandoning its modest workplace setting, using the same cramped repair business and clashing personalities that defined the independent version.
