Casey Bloys signs a new multiyear deal to oversee programming, strategy and performance across HBO Max and Paramount+ at Skydance.
Casey Bloys has signed a new multiyear contract that keeps him in charge of programming across HBO Max and Paramount+ as Skydance builds its post-merger streaming leadership team. The extension turns a newly announced executive role into a longer-term commitment at a moment of major corporate change.
A wider brief across two streaming brands
Bloys was named co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance DTC, a position that gives him oversight of original programming for both services. His responsibilities also include strategy, operations, communications and performance across the company’s streaming platforms, according to the leadership structure announced Monday.
The arrangement significantly broadens a portfolio built at HBO and HBO Max. Bloys has spent years overseeing the premium network’s programming operation, while Paramount+ arrives with its own franchises, production relationships and global audience. The new job does not erase the identities of those brands, but it places a single senior content executive above both.
The extension signals continuity during reorganization
Bloys’ previous HBO contract was expected to run through 2027. By completing a fresh multiyear agreement now, Skydance is signaling that it wants continuity in the creative organization while the combined company redraws reporting lines and decides how its streaming assets will work together.
He will share leadership of the direct-to-consumer group with JB Perrette, who is becoming co-chair and chief business officer. That split places content and programming under Bloys while pairing him with an executive focused on the commercial side of the streaming operation. George Cheeks, meanwhile, has been assigned a leading content role within Skydance’s broader television business.
The immediate impact for subscribers is unlikely to be a sudden merger of HBO Max and Paramount+. The announcement defines who will make key decisions, not a new consumer product or timetable. Questions about bundling, branding, commissioning and platform strategy remain open.
What the deal does establish is who will help answer them. Bloys now has a mandate that reaches beyond HBO’s prestige programming and into a larger streaming portfolio, making his choices central to how Skydance balances two distinct services.
