Netflix renewed The Beast in Me for Season 2, with Claire Danes returning as Aggie Wiggs and Howard Gordon sharing showrunner duties.

Netflix is bringing The Beast in Me back for a second season, turning what began as a limited series into an ongoing drama. Claire Danes will return as writer Aggie Wiggs and will again serve as an executive producer.

The renewal keeps key members of the creative team in place. Howard Gordon, who led the first season, will share co-showrunner duties with Daniel Pearle. Gordon and Pearle are also returning as writers and executive producers, while series creator Gabe Rotter remains among the executive-producing group.

Claire Danes returns as Aggie Wiggs

The decision gives the show a chance to continue with its central character rather than rebuild as a disconnected anthology. That matters because the first season was introduced as a contained story. Netflix has increasingly allowed successful limited dramas to continue when producers find a viable new direction, and The Beast in Me now joins that group.

Gordon said the team would only pursue another season if it found a story worthy of the first. The announcement did not reveal the new plot, additional cast members, a production start or a release date. For now, the firmest creative detail is that Aggie remains at the center and that the returning writers will guide her next chapter.

A broader Netflix deal for Howard Gordon

The renewal arrives alongside a wider agreement between Gordon and Netflix. Through his Teakwood Lane Productions banner, he will develop new series exclusively for the streamer. Gordon’s résumé includes Homeland—where he previously worked with Danes—and 24, giving the new arrangement a strong connection to the kind of character-driven suspense behind this series.

The production remains connected to 20th Television, with Danes, Gordon and Pearle among a large group of returning executive producers. The continuity suggests Netflix is preserving the team that shaped the first season while widening leadership at the showrunner level. Viewers will still have to wait for the next major pieces: where Aggie’s story goes, who joins her and when Season 2 will arrive.
