Olivia Rodrigo’s third album is back at No. 1 after an ‘Expectations’ remix with Chappell Roan powered a 15% weekly gain.
Olivia Rodrigo has returned to the top of the Billboard 200, with You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love claiming a third nonconsecutive week at No. 1. The album rose from second place after earning 75,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending October 22.
That total represented a 15% week-over-week increase, according to Billboard. The biggest new spark came from Rodrigo’s October 15 release of an “Expectations” remix featuring Chappell Roan, accompanied by an official music video. The collaboration gave an already durable album a timely reason to return to listeners’ playlists.
The remix turns momentum into a chart win
The album first opened at No. 1 in June and held the position for a second week. Its latest climb brings the project’s total to three weeks at the summit, while extending a notable run: it has remained inside the chart’s top five throughout its first 19 weeks.
The result also shows how a strategically placed remix can refresh a full album rather than merely boost one song. Roan’s appearance marked her first feature, bringing together two of pop’s most closely watched voices without replacing the original track’s identity. The renewed attention was strong enough to move the album ahead of Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl.
A crowded week at the top
Rodrigo’s return came during a competitive chart frame. Zach Bryan entered at No. 2 with Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, which logged 65,500 equivalent album units, while Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem remained at No. 3.
For Rodrigo, the latest No. 1 is less a comeback than an extension of the album’s staying power. The project never drifted far from the summit, and the Chappell Roan remix converted fresh cultural attention into measurable chart activity. Months after its debut, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is still behaving like a new release.
