Powderfinger’s 2027 Australian reunion tour has grown from 18 to 26 dates after presale demand prompted added shows in four major cities.
Powderfinger has expanded its 2027 reunion tour from 18 concerts to 26 after heavy presale demand pushed the Australian rock band to add multiple dates. The run now begins Sept. 3 at Brisbane Showgrounds and continues through Nov. 1 at Melbourne Park Oval, giving the group its most substantial live schedule since its farewell era.
The added concerts are concentrated in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. The official itinerary now lists six nights at Brisbane Showgrounds, three at Wellington Square in Perth, six at Sydney’s Domain and seven at Melbourne Park Oval. Cairns and Adelaide also remain on the schedule.
A comeback met by immediate demand
The band said the response went far beyond the initial presale allocation, with fans queuing online and planning trips across Australia and from overseas. Six extra shows were added first and also sold quickly, leading to further dates. General public sales are scheduled to begin Oct. 19, with timing varying by market.
The tour reunites Powderfinger’s classic lineup: singer Bernard Fanning, guitarists Ian Haug and Darren Middleton, bassist John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill. The group ended its original run in 2010 with the 34-date Sunsets Farewell tour, which sold more than 300,000 tickets.
A national route with a charitable partner
The 2027 itinerary uses large central-city outdoor venues and a stadium-sized touring structure rather than a conventional arena route. Its current calendar moves from Queensland to Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria over two months.
Powderfinger is also partnering with Mission Australia during the tour to support the organization’s work on housing and homelessness. Ticket links and the full date list are available through the band’s official tour page.
The scale of the expansion underlines the staying power of a catalog that produced five consecutive Australian No. 1 albums. For longtime fans, the added dates turn a limited reunion into a full national comeback, while still leaving the band’s plans beyond the 2027 run open.
