One Night Only arrives on digital rental and purchase platforms September 8, while its Peacock streaming date remains unannounced.
One Night Only is moving from theaters to home screens. The romantic comedy becomes available to buy or rent through major digital retailers on September 8, giving viewers a new way to see the Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner movie after its theatrical run.
The digital release is a premium on-demand window rather than a subscription-streaming debut. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has not announced a date for the film to join Peacock, so subscribers hoping to watch it as part of their regular plan will need to wait.
One Night Only digital release starts September 8
Digital storefronts including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home are expected to carry the movie for rental and purchase. Prices can vary by retailer, and rental periods typically begin only after a viewer presses play. The release also includes bonus material about the production, including behind-the-scenes segments with the cast and director.
Barbaro plays Allie, a singer who wants a meaningful connection in a world built around a once-a-year night for unattached adults. Turner plays Owen, a pizza-shop owner dealing with the end of a long relationship. Their encounter turns the movie’s deliberately outrageous setup into a more familiar question: can two guarded people recognize something real before the night ends?
The Peacock date is still open
The movie comes from Universal, making Peacock its expected subscription home in the United States. That connection does not produce a confirmed arrival date, however. Any specific month currently circulating online is an estimate based on past studio release patterns, not an official schedule.
Will Gluck directed the film from a screenplay by Travis Braun. Gluck previously directed romantic comedies including Easy A and Anyone But You. The ensemble around Barbaro and Turner includes Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, King Princess, Molly Ringwald, LeVar Burton, Jay Ellis, Ziwe and Mike Birbiglia.
For now, the choice is straightforward: viewers can pay for early digital access beginning September 8 or hold out for a later Peacock window. The lack of a confirmed streaming date makes the digital launch the only announced home-viewing option this week.
