Jason Blum and James Wan have renamed their merged horror company Blumhouse Atomic while retaining Blumhouse and Atomic Monster as labels.

Jason Blum and James Wan have given their combined horror company a shorter name: Blumhouse Atomic. The rebrand replaces the longer Blumhouse Atomic Monster identity created after the two production businesses joined forces.

The new structure does not erase the labels audiences already know. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will continue operating as distinct creative banners, with their own teams developing film and television projects under the larger Blumhouse Atomic company.

A clearer identity for a growing horror operation

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both confirmed the change on Tuesday. Blum described the new name as a natural next step for the partnership, while Wan emphasized the company’s ambition to identify emerging filmmakers and build relationships that extend beyond a single project.

The pair completed their merger in 2024, bringing together the producer behind the low-budget hit model associated with Blumhouse and the filmmaker-producer linked to franchises including The Conjuring, Insidious and Saw. The rebrand presents those businesses as one broader platform while preserving the identities that filmmakers and fans recognize.

According to both trade publications, films connected to the combined company have generated roughly $2.5 billion at the global box office since the merger, against reported production budgets totaling about $330 million. Those figures illustrate why the partnership has become such a closely watched force in commercial horror.

The slate reaches beyond movie theaters

Blum said the company sees room to move its properties into television, games and live experiences as well as theatrical releases. Wan, meanwhile, placed new creative voices at the center of the strategy, citing filmmakers such as Kane Parsons and Curry Barker as examples of the talent the company wants to support.

The announced 2027 slate includes new entries tied to Paranormal Activity, Blair Witch and The Exorcist, alongside projects including River, Molepeople, Sleepover and Seasons. The name may be streamlined, but the plan behind it is expansive: keep the two labels creatively recognizable while giving their shared business a single, marketable identity.
