Discovery+ now costs $6.99 with ads and $11.99 without them in the U.S., with existing customers moving to the new rates in November.
Discovery+ has raised the monthly price of both U.S. subscription plans, making its ad-supported tier $6.99 and its ad-free option $11.99.
The changes took effect October 13 for new subscribers. Existing customers are set to receive 30 days’ notice, with the higher rate appearing on billing statements on or after November 12.
Each plan is getting a different increase
The ad-supported plan is rising by $1, from $5.99 to $6.99 per month. The ad-free plan is increasing by $2, moving from $9.99 to $11.99. That means viewers who keep the ad-free tier for a full year will pay $24 more at the new monthly rate, while the annual difference for the ad-supported plan is $12.
Discovery+ remains the streaming home for shows and libraries associated with TLC, HGTV, Food Network, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, Magnolia Network and Discovery Channel. Its lineup includes franchises such as “90 Day Fiancé,” “Sister Wives,” “Ghost Adventures,” “Expedition Unknown” and “Deadliest Catch.” Some of that programming is also available through HBO Max.
The timing puts Skydance in focus
The increase arrives one week after Paramount completed its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, creating Skydance Corp. The newly combined company also controls Paramount+, HBO Max and Pluto TV, giving it one of the industry’s broadest groups of streaming products.
Skydance has said it plans to unify Paramount+ and HBO Max into a single service over time. Discovery+ was not included in that specific consolidation announcement, leaving its longer-term position as a standalone platform unclear.
For now, subscribers are seeing a straightforward change rather than a new bundle or redesigned service: the same two Discovery+ plans at higher monthly prices. The practical deadline differs by customer. New sign-ups pay more immediately, while current members should look for their notice and check the first billing statement dated November 12 or later.
