La Trice Verrett Becomes Big Brother 28’s First Juror

La Trice “Lala” Verrett has been evicted from the Big Brother house and will become the season’s first jury member. The Week 8 vote ended 4-2 against her after a sequence of competition wins repeatedly reshaped the final nominees.

Drew Campbell entered the week with power after winning Head of Household. He initially nominated La Trice, Taylor Brown and Yash Patel. Yash then secured the Power of Veto and removed himself from the block, prompting Survivor veteran Rick Devens to volunteer as the replacement nominee.

Rick Devens wins safety at a crucial moment

The three remaining nominees—La Trice, Taylor and Devens—faced the BB Blockbuster competition. Devens won, earning safety before the live vote and narrowing the choice to La Trice and Taylor. His victory maintained his run as one of the season’s most visible strategic and competitive players, but it also concentrated the decision on two houseguests from outside his closest voting bloc.

Devens, Dee, Barrett and Yash voted to evict La Trice. Angela and Melody voted against Taylor, leaving La Trice on the losing side of the 4-2 result. Her departure changes more than the immediate house count: because the game has reached its jury phase, she will eventually help decide the winner of Season 28.

The jury phase begins

The first juror’s identity matters because every eviction from this stage forward affects both the path to the finale and the group that will cast the season’s decisive votes. Players now have to balance short-term safety with jury management, especially when alliances become visible through split votes.

La Trice left the house on good terms and spoke with host Julie Chen Moonves after the result. The next Head of Household competition will determine who controls the first full week played with the jury officially forming, giving the remaining contestants little time to reset after a vote that exposed where several loyalties currently stand.
