Noah Wyle Is People’s 2026 Sexiest Man Alive

Noah Wyle has a new title to add to a career already defined by two generations of medical drama: People’s 2026 Sexiest Man Alive. The 55-year-old actor said the news initially sounded like a prank, an appropriately modest response from a performer whose latest success has returned him to the center of television culture.

A career revival with perfect timing

The announcement arrives during a remarkable second act for Wyle. He first became a household name as Dr. John Carter on ER, joining the NBC series in the 1990s and earning multiple Golden Globe and Emmy nominations during its run. Decades later, HBO’s The Pitt put him back in scrubs as attending physician Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch.

That return has been more than nostalgic. Wyle’s work on The Pitt has brought major awards attention, including consecutive lead-actor Emmy wins in 2025 and 2026 and a Golden Globe in 2026. The medical drama is due to return for a third season in January 2027, giving the magazine cover a timely link to his current work rather than simply his past fame.

Family helped him accept the honor

In People’s cover interview, Wyle credited his wife, Sara Wells, with helping him take the selection seriously. He said she viewed the honor as recognition not only of his public image but also of the husband and father he is at home. Their daughter Frances joined the couple during the magazine’s Malibu shoot.

The profile presents Wyle as an attentive family man and self-described homebody who cooks breakfast, keeps a journal, walks his dogs and considers the kitchen sink his domain. He also reflected on raising three children and on how becoming a father changed the way he viewed the intense schedule of ER.

Wyle succeeds 2025 honoree Jonathan Bailey. His selection also closes a playful loop with longtime friend and former ER co-star George Clooney, who joked earlier this year that Wyle should be nominated for a “sexiest man still alive” honor. People went with the real title instead.
