Olivia Rodrigo turns Daisy Chain Fields into a generational summit

Olivia Rodrigo closed the first Daisy Chain Fields festival by sharing the stage with three artists who helped shape different eras of confessional pop and rock. During her Saturday night headline set at Great Park in Irvine, California, she welcomed Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette and Stevie Nicks for a sequence of surprise duets.

The guest list gave the one-day, all-women event a clear sense of musical lineage. Rodrigo introduced McLachlan by recognizing the influence of Lilith Fair, the women-led touring festival McLachlan founded in 1997. The pair performed “Building a Mystery” and “Angel,” dedicating the latter song to Dolly Parton.

Three collaborations, three generations

Morissette then joined Rodrigo for “Ironic,” returning to a partnership they first explored onstage during Rodrigo’s Sour tour in 2022. Their latest appearance carried extra weight because Morissette stepped into the festival lineup after Karen O withdrew.

Nicks arrived near the end of the show for “Landslide,” trading verses with Rodrigo on the Fleetwood Mac classic. The pairing had been teased before the festival, but its placement as a closing statement made it more than a cameo. It connected Rodrigo’s current pop success with a song that has endured across generations.

Rodrigo also used the set to move her own catalog forward. She performed “Serena Joy” live for the first time and mixed newer material with songs including “Bad Idea Right?,” “Good 4 U,” “Drivers License” and “Deja Vu.”

A festival built around more than a lineup

Daisy Chain Fields featured Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, The Breeders, Garbage, Santigold and other performers across the day. Participating artists waived their performance fees, while net proceeds were directed toward nonprofit organizations supporting women and girls.

The festival also included educational resources and installations addressing reproductive rights, maternal health, economic empowerment, domestic violence prevention and gender equality. That wider mission helped distinguish the event from a conventional star-packed concert.

For Rodrigo, the headline set worked as both a victory lap and a statement of intent. Rather than treating veteran guests as nostalgic accessories, she placed their songs alongside her own and let the shared themes—heartbreak, independence and women making space for one another—carry the night.
