Robert Pattinson says The Batman Part II has resumed production as Steven Soderbergh helps Matt Reeves complete principal photography.

Robert Pattinson says production on The Batman Part II is moving again, with Steven Soderbergh helping complete principal photography while director Matt Reeves handles a family matter. Pattinson told GamesRadar+ that filming had already resumed and that he expected to return to the set within days.

The update follows a temporary pause announced earlier in October. Reeves has stressed that he is not leaving the sequel, and DC Studios has described Soderbergh’s involvement as assistance designed to preserve the existing creative plan rather than replace the filmmaker behind the franchise.

Soderbergh joins to finish principal photography

Pattinson praised Soderbergh’s decision to step in, characterizing the move as generous and focused on helping Reeves bring the footage into the editing stage. He also indicated that the production is close to finishing, giving fans the clearest sign yet that the interruption is not becoming an open-ended shutdown.

Soderbergh has said his goal is to work with Reeves and the production team so the newly filmed material fits seamlessly with what has already been completed. Reeves is expected to remain involved in post-production, preserving his role as the movie’s director and principal creative voice.

The sequel keeps its long runway

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to reach theaters on February 18, 2028. Warner Bros. has not announced a change to that date. The long-awaited follow-up brings Pattinson back as Bruce Wayne alongside returning cast members Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell.

The cast also includes newcomers Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry. Plot details remain closely guarded, and speculation around Gotham’s next threat has not been confirmed by the studio. For now, the important development is practical: cameras are rolling again, Soderbergh is supporting the final stretch of filming, and Reeves remains attached to finish the movie.
