Sandra Bullock Is Open to ‘Practical Magic 3’

Sandra Bullock is already imagining a future for the Owens family beyond Practical Magic 2. The actor says a third movie could happen if the upcoming sequel connects with audiences, with the next generation of witches moving closer to the center of the franchise.

Bullock made the comment in a new Vanity Fair interview ahead of the sequel’s September 10 release. She said another installment would depend on the performance of the second movie and suggested that Joey King and Maisie Williams could inherit the story as Sally Owens’s daughters.

Practical Magic 3 remains an idea, not an announcement

The distinction matters: Warner Bros. has not announced a third film, and Bullock’s remarks describe a possibility rather than a project in production. Her enthusiasm nevertheless gives fans a clear sense of how she would like the series to evolve if the sequel earns another chapter.

King and Williams play Kylie and Antonia, roles connected to the children seen in the original 1998 movie. Bullock returns as Sally alongside Nicole Kidman as Gillian Owens. Susanne Bier directs Practical Magic 2 from a screenplay credited to Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel.

The sequel also carries a deliberate connection to the first film. Bullock told Vanity Fair that the creative team preserved recognizable details for longtime viewers while making the story accessible to newcomers. Those touches include musical and visual callbacks, but the addition of younger Owens women gives the movie room to move forward rather than function only as a reunion.

Bullock and Kidman are not simply returning as performers. Bullock described both stars, along with producer Denise Di Novi, as hands-on in shaping the follow-up and choosing Bier to direct. Their involvement helps explain why talk of a third film is framed around succession instead of repeating the same pairing indefinitely.

For now, the immediate test is Practical Magic 2. Its reception and box-office performance will determine whether Bullock’s idea develops into a formal proposal. Until then, Practical Magic 3 is best understood as an open door—and a glimpse of who might walk through it next.
