Taskmaster will stage live shows at Manchester’s AO Arena and the Hollywood Bowl in 2027, mixing celebrity contestants with audience members.

Taskmaster is taking its television format into two landmark venues in 2027. Greg Davies and Alex Horne will lead live editions at Manchester’s AO Arena on May 26 and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 22.

Celebrity contestants will share the stage with fans

Each performance will feature three celebrity competitors and two audience members attempting original tasks in front of the crowd. The format keeps the essential structure of the series: Horne sets the challenges, Davies judges the results and one participant leaves with the Taskmaster’s golden head.

The production is also promising special guests and previously unseen footage. The celebrity lineups have not yet been announced, so the central draw is the chance to watch the show’s unpredictable competition unfold in real time rather than knowing in advance which performers will take part.

The tour reaches its biggest venues yet

The Manchester date will be the first UK arena presentation of Taskmaster Live On Stage. The Los Angeles performance brings the format to one of America’s most recognizable outdoor venues after an earlier U.S. run on the East Coast sold out rapidly.

Horne described the bookings as a surreal leap, connecting the Hollywood Bowl with Monty Python and Manchester’s arena with Oasis. Davies, maintaining the pair’s familiar comic hierarchy, promised even-handed judgments while joking that every effort would be made for everyone except Horne to enjoy themselves.

Tickets are scheduled to go on general sale October 14, with presale registration available through the official Taskmaster website. The announcement does not yet specify whether the performances will be filmed or distributed after the events.

The stage expansion reflects the series’ growth since its television debut in 2015. Channel 4 now carries the UK version, and the format has produced more than a dozen international adaptations. Moving into the AO Arena and Hollywood Bowl gives the franchise a new test: preserving its improvised, deliberately awkward energy at a scale built for concerts rather than studio comedy.
