Jessica Alba, Charli XCX, Cynthia Erivo and more stars attended Airbnb.org’s first gala in Los Angeles for emergency housing relief.
Jessica Alba, Charli XCX, Cynthia Erivo and Matthew McConaughey were among the stars who gathered in Los Angeles for Airbnb.org’s first gala on Wednesday night.
The October 28 event at Milk Studios brought together actors, musicians, athletes and filmmakers in support of the nonprofit’s emergency-housing work. The group helps people find temporary places to stay after natural disasters and other crises, giving the evening a charitable purpose beyond its crowded red carpet.
A wide-ranging Hollywood turnout
Alba arrived in a Donna Karan dress with Gabriel & Co. jewelry, while Charli XCX wore Roberto Cavalli. Erivo chose a Cong Tri look, and Serena Williams appeared in Clio Peppiatt. Demi Lovato, Charlize Theron, Kelly Rowland, Zoë Saldaña, Sienna Miller, Greta Lee and Madelyn Cline were also photographed at the event.
McConaughey attended with his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, and their son Levi. Other guests included Joshua Jackson, Jaden Smith, Paul Bettany, Ava DuVernay, Tracee Ellis Ross, Elizabeth Banks, Megan Rapinoe and Jimmy Kimmel. The unusually broad guest list gave the first-time fundraiser the feel of a major awards-season gathering, even though the focus remained on the nonprofit’s relief mission.
Fashion meets a housing mission
The clothes provided plenty of visual variety. McConaughey wore Brioni, Alves McConaughey selected Sergio Hudson and Lovato paired a Schiaparelli suit with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Erivo and DuVernay both wore Cong Tri, while Theron appeared in Givenchy and Jessica McCormack jewelry.
Airbnb.org operates separately from the commercial travel platform and works with hosts and donors to provide free emergency stays. By placing that work at the center of a celebrity-heavy event, the organization used Hollywood visibility to draw attention to practical housing support after displacement.
For attendees, the night offered a high-profile social occasion. For the organization, it was a chance to turn a long list of recognizable names into wider awareness of a service built for people facing sudden upheaval.
